When I was looking into what a medical assistant job description was it didn’t say anything about being the bad guy. Day in and day out as a medical assistant I am forced to tell people that they are not covered for certain procedures due to their health insurance companies. Recently I had to tell a women that she couldn’t get the C section that she was planning.

You will find medical insurance firms that increases people’s rates or won’t cover them whatsoever should they have undergone a C-section because of the price of the process. In reaction to the higher costs of getting them, the provider will typically charge a bigger amount or simply reject coverage of these women completely.

Most of the time these women don’t even think there would be any chance that they would be rejected for the procedure so they go ahead and get it without consulting their insurance companies. This can leave them with tremendous bills.
